Jazz Gowans is an award-winning executive producer and creative director. As CEO and founder, Jazz ran Transparent Television, one of the UK's leading TV production companies, for some 15 years (becoming part of the global media group, Argonon, in 2013) creating, winning and delivering primetime documentaries and formats, currently showing in over 100 countries worldwide.
Focussing on original, global and talent-led IP for all major broadcasters and networks, Jazz has a proven skill and tenacity for popular factual - specialising in exclusive access pieces and noisy, high profile documentaries and series. Prior to her TV career, Jazz spent over a decade in features journalism - her credits include: ELLE, Vogue, The Face, The Mirror, The Sun, The Guardian and The Mail on Sunday.
Jazz is passionate about story-telling and future proofing the creative sector industries, particularly in terms of nurturing the next generation of talent to better reflect modern, diverse Britain.
Highlights include C4 :- My Daughter Amy (Winehouse); Queer as Old Folk ; A Very British Brothel; Britain's Forgotten Army with Joanna Lumley; ITV :- MOBOs: Paving The Way; Leslie Ash : Face to Face; BBC3/ iPlayer box set hit Supercar Superfam and BBC2’s Restoration Roadshow. There were also 12 series of Botched Up Bodies - with celebrity spin offs - for C5, picked up by Netflix worldwide. Also for C5 multiple series of Portillo's Hidden History of Britain with Michael Portillo expanding to Portillo’s Empire Journey filmed around the world with a best-selling book published alongside.
Jazz was honoured to be a part of TV Collective’s top 50 B.A.M.E leaders in television and is a voting member of BAFTA.
