Ed James
Co-Founder of HDY Agency
As founding partner of HDY Agency, which has quickly grown to a team of 51 content experts, Ed has been part of some exciting growth over the last 3 years. The agency now has clients across the world, whilst staying true to its Brummie roots in Digbeth’s Custard Factory, which remains the bedrock of its culture and creativity.
Ed is also recognised for his extensive career in broadcast and live event hosting. He’s been the host of Heart FM breakfast for 17 years, and now presents 'Drive Time', having just celebrated his 20th year on the station. To this day, Ed continues to adapt to remain relevant within this fast-changing industry.
Passionate about purpose, Ed published his first book, ‘Be More Kid’, last year. It encourages people to find their true calling, reconnect with what’s important and to start unlearning unhelpful habits. ‘Be More Kid’ invites readers into a more meaningful and fulfilling life, whilst showing how to build resilience in a challenging world. It’s a rediscovery of our inner child, and promotes an ethos which HDY was built upon.
Ed is truly woven into the fabric of the West Midlands, and he values the importance of staying connected to the regional community. He’s very active in the business circuit, regularly hosting high profile events and awards dinners.
His impressive drive to do more has helped him raise in excess of £1,000,000 for regional charities, including the QE, Midlands Air Ambulance, Severn Trent Water Aid, NICE and Ronald McDonald House Charities. Ed’s enthusiasm, long-standing commitment to his community and his positive approach to everything makes him a genuinely integral member of the region.
